The Opportunity: 

Under the general direction of the District Manager, the Director of Safety and Risk Management is responsible for developing, updating, and implementing an employee safety program, an emergency preparedness program, an employee safety training program and for overall risk management activities.  This position also administers the loss prevention programs, workers’ compensation, property, and liability programs, and assists human resources with personnel issues related to health and safety.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major in industrial engineering, safety, occupational health science, or a related field and four years of increasing responsible work experience in workplace safety, workers’ compensation program administration, and employee training with two or more years  of administration of a comprehensive safety and accident prevention program.   Experience may be substituted for education on a two years of experience for one year of education basis.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $10,327.86 – $11,386.48 monthly.

Benefits:

The District offers a a generous and competitive benefits package which includes the following:

Medical Plan: The District contracts with CalPERS health care and contributes the entire premium for employee and eligible dependents up to the premium amount of the highest cost HMO plan. Employee pays any specific plan deductibles or co-payments.

Dental Plan: The District pays a majority of the premium for employee and eligible dependents. Employee pays $1.00 per month.

Vision Plan: The District pays the full premium for employee and eligible dependents.

Life and AD&D Insurances: Coverage equal to $75,000 is provided at District expense.

Other Insurances: Employee Assistance Program. Long-Term and Short-Term Disability Insurances.

Vacation: 15-25 days depending on years of service.

Holidays: 10 days plus 28.5 hours of floating holidays.

Retirement: The District’s pension plan is administered by CalPERS. The retirement benefit depends upon membership date with CalPERS (2%@62 for new members and 2.7%@55 for classic members).

Social Security: The District does not participate in Social Security.
