The Position

Under administrative direction, plans, manages, oversees and directs the operation and maintenance of the potable and recycled water systems including production, treatment, distribution, metering, mechanical, electrical, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system maintenance, and laboratory services; assists in coordinating assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, outside agencies, and the public; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments, divisions, and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Public Works Deputy Director in areas of expertise; performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in engineering, science, or closely related field of study. Master’s Degree is desirable.

Seven (7) years of progressively responsible potable water management experience, including four (4) years of management experience in the maintenance and operations of potable and recycled water production, distribution and treatment facilities, systems, and programs, and in leading operations, maintenance, or environmental managers in a comparable agency.

Possession of a valid driver’s license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon the essential job functions of the position

Possession of a valid Registration as a Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Professional Engineer in the State of California is desirable.

Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) D5 Water Distribution Operator Certificate is desirable.

Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) T5 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate is desirable

Compensation

$97,084 to $159,557
