The Organization
The Amador Water Agency owns and operates 11 small community wastewater systems. Over the 50 years since its formation, the Amador Water Agency purchased the Amador Canal System from PG&E, in 1978 constructed the Central Amador Water Project and the Buckhorn Water Treatment Plant to provide water to hundreds of upcountry residents, updated the Tanner Water Treatment Plant, built the Ione Pipeline and a new water treatment plant and storage tanks in Ione, now provides treated water to Jackson, added new wells to the Lake Camanche Village and La Mel Heights systems, completed the 9-mile-long Amador Transmission Pipeline, and completed the Plymouth Pipeline.
The Position
The Amador Water Agency is looking for a dynamic and strategic individual to plan, organize, direct, and participate in the activities and operations of the Financial Services Department as the Finance Director. The Finance Director will assume full management responsibility for all financial services and activities including accounting, budgeting, investments, procurement, and grant application management; recommend and administer policies and procedures; provide administrative support and expertise to the General Manager, Board of Directors and all Agency departments; prepare and administrate the Agency’s annual budget; assist the General Manager in reviewing departmental budget requests; plan, develop, implement and administer the cash management, debt management and investment programs; prepare and maintain long-range financial planning, including rates and charges; prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as required; assist with obtaining low interest loans and grants to fund the Agency’s capital improvement plans; manage grants procured by the Agency; develop, implement and oversee purchasing regulations and procedures; and supervise management of the Agency’s fleet.
Requirements
B.S. or MBA in Accounting, or equivalent form a four-year college. Certified Public Accountant is desirable. Six years of professional-level accounting experience, preferably with a public agency, two of which must have been at the supervisory level or above; two years of experience with a computerized accounting system.
