The Position
Under administrative direction, plans, manages, oversees and directs the operation and maintenance of the wastewater, recycled water, storm water conveyance and treatment, ocean outfall disposal, bio-solids disposal, and laboratory services; assists in coordinating assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, outside agencies, and the public; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments, divisions, and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; and provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Public Works Deputy Director in areas of expertise.
Qualifications
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, natural sciences, or a related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible wastewater management experience, including four (4) years of management experience in the maintenance and operations of wastewater, recycled water, storm water conveyance and treatment facilities, systems, and programs and in leading operations, maintenance, or environmental managers in a comparable agency.
Possession of a valid driver’s license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment.
Possession of a valid Registration as a Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Professional Engineer in the State of California is desirable.
Possession of a Grade V California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) desired.
Compensation
$97,084 to $159,557
